When first thinking about this project, I knew that a few artists or groups likely would end up on the blog more than once. But it would never have occurred to me then that Kool & the Gang would be one of those groups.
Yet perhaps no group is more “connected” to our marriage than that one. After all, one of their songs has the same name as my wife. And come to find out, this song, “Celebration,” topped the Billboard charts the week we married, and was the sixth-most-popular song that year.
Like our marriage, the song has staying power. It was a hit for Kylie Minogue in the 1990s, and is still popular at wedding receptions and at sporting events.
By the way, I once had some white shoes like the ones the guys are wearing in this video. Now my golf shoes look a lot like them. Lyrics here, with video below:
