The song is a beautiful old standard, performed by many performers, and it characterizes our relationship well. At times we’ve been pretty poor — living in a bus on the Oregon Coast at one time, and in a pickup camper (with no working pickup under it) in inner-city Phoenix at another time, for example. But we’ve always had what mattered most — each other.

This wonderful version is done by Dee Daniels, whom we’ve seen perform at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival and at the rededication of a Spokane high school. Here she’s doing what she does best, fronting a small ensemble — in this case, the Russian Air Jazz Quintet. The piece features some great tenor sax by Vlad Leybov. (As a former tenor sax player, that makes me appreciate the performance even more.)
